There's an old adage that reads "There ain't no such thing as a free lunch!" which of course implies that somewhere along the way it will cost you something.
Well, we're here to tell you that isn't necessarily so. The computer industry was founded on users doing it themselves which led to an entire community of skilled programmers and technicians who share their expertise and work with the public at large for free or in some cases nearly free. That means the next time you feel compelled to go to your local "Expensive Computers 'R Us!" for software, take a look around for what's available for free (or if its shareware, at a very low cost).
